The CAN-CR220 is used isolate two segments of a CAN network from a spike of up to 4 kV, allowing it be safely implemented in medical applications. Another significant feature of this Repeater is its ability to automatically recognize and separate a defective segment from the rest of the network so that the remaining network will continue to function. Once the defect is corrected the segment is switched back into the network.
The galvanic isolation protects the CAN segments from each other as well as from the power supply.
The CAN-CR220 is tested according DIN/EN 50178 (DIN VDE 0160: 1988-05 and DIN VDE 0160/A1: 1989-04).
